Empire State University launches 2+2 Nursing Program with Rockland Community College
(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – JULY 8, 2024) Empire State University is thrilled to announce an innovative 2+2 nursing program through a unique partnership with Rockland Community College. Nursing students will be able to seamlessly transition from an associate degree in nursing at RCC to a bachelor of science in nursing through online coursework provided by Empire State University. The partnership allows students to earn both degrees in just four years.
Students will be able to enroll in the 2+2 nursing dual-degree program for the Fall 2024 term. The program is designed to help health care workers remain in their communities while working to earn a higher degree in their field.
The bachelor of science in nursing, offered at SUNY Empire, is a 124-credit program that includes 41 upper-division nursing credits. At Empire State University’s School of Nursing and Allied Health, students can enroll full-time or part-time, earn prior learning credits that reduce overall degree completion time, and earn their degree in as little as ten months. Nursing students at SUNY Empire will have supervised practice experience in a community health setting and work directly with a mentor who provides guidance from registration to graduation.
The fully online and accessible degree offered by Empire State University is convenient for students residing in Rockland County, allowing them to pursue their bachelor’s degree without relocating. The initiative fits with SUNY Empire’s mission of providing affordable, accessible, and innovative education.
Dr. Kim Stote, Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health, said “We are honored to partner with Rockland Community College on the 2+2 Nursing Program. Empire State University has a longstanding tradition of successfully delivering and providing access to an array of online programs. Our goal is to educate and inspire healthcare professionals who enhance the health of individuals, families, and their communities.”
