In the News: Dean of School of Labor Studies featured in Non Profit Quarterly

(NEW YORK, NY — MAY 15, 2024) Maria Figueroa, dean of the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. School of Labor Studies, was featured in a recent article by Non Profit Quarterly titled “Are Advertising and Marketing on the Brink of a Union Wave?” 

Figueroa discusses the unique capabilities of people who work in creative fields like marketing, advertising, and public relations. In the article, she notes the lack of organization among those fields and particular isolation among the workforce. Figueroa said, as the industry begins to contend with artificial intelligence, those in advertising, marketing, and public relations could begin to think more seriously about organizing and how to protect their creativity and use of technology.
