Veteran student, community leader awarded Association of Council Members and College Trustees Scholarship
(SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — OCTOBER 2, 2024) Empire State University is proud to announce Robin Hodges ’22 has received the Association of Council Members and College Trustees (ACT) Scholarship. The scholarship rewards students for excellence in their academic performance and commitment to campus and community.
Hodges graduated with her bachelor’s degree in business management and economics in 2022. Now, she is working towards an MBA in business management with a concentration in project management, allowing her to continue the important work she does with numerous university and community organizations.
“Earning the Association of Council Members and College Trustees (ACT) Scholarship is an incredible honor for me,” Hodges said. “It reflects not only the hard work and dedication I have invested in my education, but also the recognition of my commitment to leadership, service, and personal growth. This achievement reinforces my belief in the value of persistence and the importance of contributing meaningfully to both the academic and broader community.”
Hodges is the President and CEO of Creative Design Consulting and serves as a leader in her community and at Empire State University. As vice president of the university’s chapter of Student Veterans of America, she works to address unique needs of military-affiliated students, including the transition to civilian life and new learning environments. Hodges also serves as a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association and Advisory Council, working to raise awareness of the disease and helping families and individuals connect with vital resources and support services, and as an administrator for African American Veterans Monument Inc., working to honor and support veterans from underrepresented communities.
Hodges recently won Empire State University’s Bluebird Award in April 2024 for her commitment to serving the SUNY Empire community. Hodges said the recognition of her work is reaffirming in her challenging journey as a military-affiliated student.
“It means a great deal to know that the work I am doing is not only helping me grow, but also making an impact on others,” Hodges said. “As a military-affiliated student, I have faced unique challenges, and to know that I am helping to pave the way for others facing similar obstacles is incredibly rewarding. It drives me to continue advocating for and supporting my peers, especially as we navigate both academic and life journeys.”
